Winter: Christmas markets

Christmas markets and Advent events

The pre-Christmas period in the Wilder Kaiser region is particularly atmospheric. The old church squares are transformed into Advent markets with artful crafts from the region. Especially the Christmas market in Going and the Söller Krippenadvent invite you to stroll leisurely through snow-covered villages and enjoy the spicy scent of mulled wine and the contemplative sounds of folk music. If you want to experience a contemplative mountain Advent, you can take the Hartkaiserbahn Ellmau cable car up to 1,555 m above sea level and discover Ellmi’s magical mountain Advent.

However, before the quiet time on the Wilder Kaiser begins, it gets really loud once again: At the beginning of December, around St. Nicholas Day, traditionally Krampusse and Perchten drive their “mischief”. At the big devil and percht meeting in Ellmau spectacular shows can be admired in the evening.
